Charity at The Horseshoes Nuneaton
Charity has always been at the heart of everything we do here at The Horseshoes Nuneaton. With close family ties to local charities, as well as hearing the stories our customers have shared with us, we’ve seen first-hand the difference these organisations make in Nuneaton and the wider area. We also know that without fundraising and donations, these charities would really struggle to provide their vital services.
In 2024, our landlord, Matt Sherrington, successfully completed a 100-mile kayak challenge around the canals of Warwickshire, Coventry and Birmingham, raising an incredible £5,900 for The Myton Hospice as part of a wider £8,500 fundraising effort over the course of the year – made possible through our own events and the generous donations of our customers.
Then in 2025, Matt took things even further, joining a group of pub regulars and a fantastic team from The George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton to take on Mount Toubkal in Morocco, North Africa’s highest mountain at 4,167m. As if that wasn’t enough, he also completed a trek along Offa’s Dyke, a 177-mile route that roughly follows the border between England and Wales.
Funds raised from both challenges went towards supporting the creation of a dedicated area for the Breast Care Unit at The George Eliot Hospital.
And the adventures continue as Matt is already planning The Horseshoes Nuneaton’s next charity challenge: a pub skydive! More information coming soon.
